Club News - Updated 8th January'10

The winter weather has struck with a vengeance. However, every cloud has a silver lining. What a great opportunity to capture some truly amazing snow related shots. I’ve created a Picasa web album for your shots (Winter Weather 2010). I know it’s not a theme I was planning for but this is an exceptional opportunity which shouldn’t be missed. The 2010 programme is now on the website. I had intended to discuss it with members at the 6th January meeting but since it was cancelled I’ve posted it all the same but there is still an opportunity to change it if members so wish. I still need any feedback so email me your comments please. With regards to the last meeting of 2009 held on the 16th December, I for one really enjoyed the evening and wish to thank you all for your appreciation shown. Both the box of chocolates and wine were readily consumed over the Christmas period. Thank you. More heartening were the comments and group discussions made during the meeting, and proved to me how the club has now become a “club”. The first year was a process of finding out…who is interested in what the club could offer; what sort of things/activities members wanted; personalities; and for me, what is required to organise a successful club. I believe in 2010 we will grow to a more coherent organisation. Alex Lawrence has volunteered to take over updating the website. Thank you Alex. I see the role of the website as providing a central point of contact/source of information/sharing facility for all members, but especially for those whose job/family or whatever other commitments prevents them from coming to club meetings on a regular basis. The web pages Programme, Club News and Photo Gallery receive most hits which is great, but there are many other pages that are getting very little viewing. So feedback from yourselves would be appreciated. Alex should have more time to restructure the website and improve accessibility. New Website Facility - Members Forum. Following a great suggestion by Michelle Baddeley, the website now has a Forum page where members can ask quetions of each other, share tips, and generally feedback on club events/meetings. Please use it.
