Firstly I’d like to apologise for the way in which I cancelled the forthcoming meetings of the camera club, but had no idea just how much you all seem to value it. I think mis-communication is a great thing!!
I was very touched by the efforts that Brian put into getting members together for the meeting last night and how many of you made the effort to attend or let him know that you weren’t able to come along.
It has made me feel that there is value in running the club and I am therefore very happy to take the helm once again and continue to run the meetings along the lines that those of you who were present yesterday would like. That is, a club with education and training as its root driver.
We will therefore go back to our schedule of meetings which I’ll send out shortly and continue with our next meeting at Condicote on 20th April when we will doing a practical session on “light” – the most fundamental aspect of photography. For without it there would be no photography!
The basis of the club is to give people the opportunity to learn about their camera and to take better pictures more consistently and my aim is to go back to that ethos and to the more learning environment we previously aimed for. For those members who are more advanced and would like to be affiliated and take part in competitions, I think it is agreed that for now, perhaps they can join a more formalised club for this purpose, but hopefully continue to be members of NCDCC as well to help other members to grow and learn and get what they want from our club. I think we have all agreed that we very much value the participation of the more advanced members and it would be a great shame to lose their expertise.
So onwards and upwards! Maggie and I are committed to re-energise the club and I will continue to do what I can to give the members what they are wanting and with the help and support of all of you, I’m sure this is very achievable
